Dalton Fire Department Community CPR Program (Heartsaver CPR, AED, & First Aid)
Every day, 1,000 people across the US suffer a sudden Cardiac Arrest. Their hearts simply give out and are unable to function on their own. Without intervention, these individuals will not survive. These individuals must received Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as quickly as possible to give them the best chance of survival.
To give them the best chance, you cannot wait for an ambulance to show up. The difference between life and death is family member and bystander CPR. However, most people don’t receive this training. We want to change that.
Every month, we are offering a CPR class to the community at a reduced rate. Our instructors will teach you when and how to perform CPR. With this class, you will be certified by the American Heart Association.
All of our classes are currently held at the Dalton Fire Station at 20 Flansburg Ave, Dalton, MA

FAQ
How long does the class last?
CPR Classes are scheduled to run for 4 hours. Heartsaver Classes with First Aid runs longer and is scheduled for 5.
What is the difference between Heartsaver CPR and BLS provider?
Heartsaver CPR is made for those who work outside of a healthcare setting. BLS Provider is usually a required certification for those who work in healthcare settings, such as nurses, EMTs, Paramedics, LPNs, CNAs, etc. If you aren’t sure which course is right for you, please contact morgan.mcdonough@daltonfiredistrict.org and we will get you set up in the right class.
I want to learn CPR, but I don’t like the idea of doing mouth to mouth breaths. Can I still learn CPR?
Absolutely! A lot of people aren’t comfortable putting their mouth near another person’s mouth, especially outside of immediate family. While we still teach this, you are not required to perform it unless you choose to.
