What We Do
In 2023, the Dalton Fire District provided 364,409,200 gallons of drinking water to 2,231 homes, businesses, and public buildings.
We monitor and analyze the water to check that it meets or exceeds all state and federal standards. We provide an annual report detailing the water quality which is sent to every residence in Dalton and is also available online. Annual maintenance on structures and equipment allow us to get the full use of capital expenditures.
Annual Spring Flushing
The Dalton Fire District announces that the “Annual Spring Flushing” of the water system will begin, the week of April 18, 2023. Water Mains throughout the town will be flushed over the next eight weeks to remove the accumulations of pipeline corrosion products. The Water Mains will be flushed Monday through Friday each week, except holidays, between the hours of 7:15 A.M. and 3:00 P.M.
Flushing may cause localized dirty water and reduced service pressure in and around the immediate area. Appropriate measures will be taken to ensure that proper levels of treatment and disinfection are maintained in the system at all times. Should dirty water be experienced, customers may wish to let the water run for a short period to clear prior to use. Should dirty water or low pressure persist after 3:30 PM, please contact the Dalton Fire District Water Department at 413-684-6124 or 413-684-0500.
The Dalton Fire District regrets any inconvenience that the flushing program may cause. Water Main Flushing is an important procedure that contributes significantly to the maintenance and water quality in the Water Distribution System.
